Rodolfo ‘Rudy’ Garcia Cortinas

Rodolfo “Rudy” Garcia Cortinas, 42, passed peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 27 surrounded by his family.

Rudy is survived by his loving wife, Brittany Laine Cortinas and three beautiful daughters, Maya Erin, Mackenzie Elise and Morgan Estella. He is also survived by his mother, Estela Garcia; godson, Isaiah Plata; in-laws, Robert and Deborah Laine and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews that loved him dearly.

Rudy adored his wife and three daughters. He was the ultimate girl dad and supported his girls in all of their interests. Rudy loved to laugh with his girls and teach them about their culture. He cooked with them, sang with them, danced with them, traveled with them and always encouraged them to live life to the fullest. Rudy grew up in San Benito, Texas and loved all things Texas Longhorns. His wit and sense of humor would keep a room laughing. One of Rudy’s passions was Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Rudy not only trained at World Class Martial Arts, but he also taught many children and adults about the art. He was awarded his Black Belt to signify his dedication to and appreciation of the art.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cortinas family (https://gofund.me/f7d784b3) or the American Cancer Society in memory of Rudy. Services will be held on Thursday, Mar. 4, 2 p.m. at Truth Baptist Church in Mechanicsville, Virginia with a service to follow in Texas at a later date.
