William ‘Billy’ Robert Elliott III

William “Billy” Robert Elliott III obituaryWilliam “Billy” Robert Elliott III, 81 of Phenix, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the husband of Linda Bailey Elliott.

Billy was born in Lynchburg on March 4, 1941, the son of the late William Robert Elliott Jr. and the late Evelyn Puryear Elliott. He was of the Presbyterian faith.

He retired from the VA Dept. of Agriculture and Consumer Services as a dairy inspector and he was a lifetime farmer. Billy served in the U.S. Marine Corp Reserve, served two terms on the Southside Soil & Water Conservation Board, inducted into the Randolph-Henry Sports Hall of Fame and was an avid sportsman. In his later years, he enjoyed woodworking and logging.

He is survived by son, William Robert “Robbie” Elliott IV (Cynthia) of Phenix; daughter, Alisa Elliott Richmond (David) of Phenix; granddaughter, Leanna Grace Adair of Butte, Montana and sister, D. Jean Elliott of Phenix.

Memorial contributions may be made to Patrick Henry Memorial Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association or the charity of your choice.

A graveside service will be conducted by the Rev. Christy Mitchell on Thursday, Jan. 26 at 2 p.m., at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held at Henderson Funeral Home Chapel in Brookneal on Tuesday, Jan. 24, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The family will receive friends at the home other times.
