The Randolph-Henry FFA veterinary science and agriculture mechanics teams recently had the opportunity to represent Virginia at the Big E competition at Springfield, Massachusetts on Sept. 12-15. After placing second at the Virginia FFA Convention at Virginia Tech last June, both teams advanced to the Big E regional competition. Members of the veterinary science team included Nathan Michaelson, Cheyenne Stembridge and Ansley Napier. The veterinary science competition provides participants with the opportunity to test their knowledge and demonstrate practical skills in the field of veterinary science. Nathan Michaelson was the second highest individual overall in the veterinary science competition. Team members of the agriculture mechanics team included Devin Letterman, Carter Trammell and Austin Lockridge. In the agriculture mechanics competition students develop technical knowledge and an ability to work with others to solve complex agricultural problems.
