Randolph-Henry FFA members attend state convention

The Randolph-Henry (R-H) FFA Senior Agronomy Team placed first overall with Emily Geesaman placing first, Hannah Geesaman placing second, and Mason Hamlett placing fifth individually. Four R-H students receive FFA State Degrees. The State FFA Degree is the highest degree that a state FFA association can bestow. The only higher FFA degree is the American FFA Degree which is bestowed by the National FFA Association at the National FFA Convention each year. State Degree recipients are eligible to apply for the American Degree the following year if they continue to work on their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program after graduation from high school. At right, Rebekah Sanderson placed first in the Creed Speaking contest. By placing first in the state, Sanderson has qualified to compete in the National FFA Creed Speaking Leadership Development Event (LDE).
The Virginia FFA continued with the tradition of the third week of June being the Virginia FFA State Convention.
Typically, the convention is held at Virginia Tech, however, this year was slightly different. Virtual sessions were held June 21, 22, and 24, and many state contests were held Wednesday, June 23, at the Rockingham County Fairgrounds.
