It’s not easy making the All-District Band. First, students have to already be a member of their own school’s band program, then get registered by their band director. After that comes the auditions. And we’re not talking about competing against five or six others. In this case, Randolph-Henry High (R-H) students auditioned against hundreds of other band students from around the District III region, which covers everything from Richmond to Mecklenburg County, with Charlotte and Appomattox making up its western border.
Five Randolph-Henry students made it out of that audition round, earning the right to play at the All-District level. That includes Gerrit Ramey, Eleanore Sassi, Ta’Quaysha Walker, Sydney Hileman and Avi Kagan-Dubroff.
The All-District Band performed at an event this past weekend at James River High in Midlothian. They rehearsed tirelessly throughout the day, culminating in a two-hour, standing-room-only performance on Saturday afternoon.
“Not only did their musical talents shine, but these students also served as outstanding ambassadors for R-H and the Charlotte County community,” said Randolph-Henry Principal Erin Davis.
