As reading month continues at Phenix Elementary School, students are reading, reading and reading. As a special treat, Phenix and Bacon District Elementary Schools got to travel to Randolph-Henry High School to see a storyteller and magician. Mrs. Watkins, the librarian for both schools, arranged for Mark Daniel to come and share his love of reading with the students.
Daniel used books, puppets and magic to make the books come alive for the children. The students met a reading Stegosaurus and saw a ball of yarn magically turn into a sweater, but the most amazing feat witnessed by the children was after Daniel read Not a Box by Anne Portis. Daniel had a stuffed bunny listening to the story with the children and all of a sudden the stuffed bunny turned into a real bunny, proving how magical books can be.
