Community helps school

Phenix Elementary School has been a part of the community for 59 years. The school has gone through many changes over the years but one thing has remained constant — the support of the community. Last week during teacher work days, Midway Baptist Church came to support the teachers and staff of Phenix. Under the direction of Associate Minister John Puig, youth and outreach volunteers from the church helped teachers prepare for the arrival of students. Preparing classrooms, moving surplus items and landscaping were just a few of the things they did. They also provided lunch for the faculty and staff for two days.
In addition to Midway, Carolyn Wallace, volunteer and substitute for Phenix, provided lunch on the last day of teacher workdays for the school members.
